April Pit Fire in Wellfleet on Cape Cod
Join Judy Motzkin for a day of simple clay and fire.
Saturday April 21, 2007 (Rain date Sunday April 22, 2007) 9:30 am - ?
Bring:
Bisque clay pieces: any clay, preferably burnished and bisque fired to Cone^08 or lower.
Piece preparation info and terra sigillata links, etc. will be sent after registration.
Combustibles: firewood, scrap wood, sawdust, straw, etc.
Bring about the same volume of burnable materials as pieces to fire.
A bag lunch to eat midday (dinner is provided)
Cost:
$75/person includes light dinner.
Some prepared minerals, sawdust, and burnable brush, provided.
Schedule:
Pit loading will begin at 9:30 am. (2 hours from Boston)
Bonfire will begin around noon.
Unload late and/or the following morning.
Optional Overnight:
If you wish to stay over Saturday night:
Limited sleeping bag space available $25/night.
Or you can find reasonable off-season accommodations nearby.
Can’t stay? Make arrangements to pick up finished work in Cambridge.
The outer cape is beautiful in spring.
Touch the earth. Start the pots now.
Space is limited.
