Hi Mark,
Ron did some testing on this clay last year...I will send his notes
along to you this evening, if you are interested. Let me know.
(Notes are on a different computer)

Hello Robert,
I read Mark's post with interest and plan to follow his
results closely. I bought a full 25 pound box, I actually developed a
crush on
Mr.Adkins. Such a dapper man!! And he and his proud wife dig the
clay on his farm in Ohio and process it with a hammer mill he built himself.
All of that grass roots enterprise sold me.
I have just recently completed the rebuilding of a cone 10 gas kiln and
am very interested in trying some slip glazes. And living in Florida I have
collected bins of ash I call "hurricane mix".
Cannot wait to mix something up. So please send me the RR info on this
clay,
if you don't I will keep bugging you.

Mark: I got a 10# box but had to give it to my brother
in Louisville because I was over weight on my luggage,
and that after mailing all the literature and CDROMS
home USPS media mail.

I especially like the greenish cast of the salt fired
example. I can't imagine it not looking absolutely
great in salt/wood at cone 10. They dig the stuff in
Louisville too, but the milling and packaging alone
makes it worth the low price.

At Louisville, there were a bunch of us who picked up some of the Ohio
Slip. I am doing some tests substituting it for Albany slip in a bunch
of old recipes that I have. I am curious to find out if any of the rest
of you purchasers have done any testing and what you have come up with.=20

Has anyone on the list tried the Ohio Slip. Wondering how it worked out?

Hi Randy,
Yes, I tried it and it works nicely. Because I fire at ^6 it didn't vitrify but gave a nice red/brown wash effect. It is also attractive under clear glaze. Hope this helps. --Kim H.
