Verni Greenfield and a trip down memory lane.

I want to thank whoever it was that brought this topic to
the list.

I ventured down into the bowels of the basement and unpacked
some old boxes.

I found the book by Behrens

Alisa you are right the Behrens' book is a CM publication
from 1971
called Glaze Projects : A formulary of leadless glazes.

I also found:

1) My "lost" copy of A Potters Book
2) My notes and posters from workshops with
Don Zver, Tom Coleman, and Banff
(where I did my first pottery course)
3) Our wedding album (circa 1973)not sure why it was in with
the pottery stuff.
4) My panties signed by Soldner on the front and Voulkos on
the back.
5) A Bison tool I bought and forgot where I put it.
6) All my old macram=E9, weaving and crochet books.
7) A box full of test tiles dated 1975-79.

and
6) A paperback by Verni Greenfield called "Glazing Without a
Gram Scale"
Keramos (1976)

There is a section in the Behrens book on cup and spoon
glazes. Based on the scribbles
beside the recopies there were only one or 2 in that section
that I tried and
they were at c 06 and c 4.

The Greenfield book looks pretty well used and slopped on.
Some of the glazes
were pretty good if my recollection serves me right , I
still have some of
the "doorstop" pots. Lots of the glazes have barium and
manganese in them
so I reluctant to post them to the list because I know they
are toxic materials.

If anyone wants to talk about the books or the information
in them please post
me off list. I have one of those talk free for 10 hours
phone plans so we could
discuss them via phone.

Thanks for the "trip" down memory lane!!!

Verni Greenfield and a trip down memory lane

Pam,

That would have made a much better story but alas no.

I was at the T shirt signing area at NCECA one year, had
absolutely no
money to buy one for the signing, but I had a pair of white
cotton panties
in my backpack so I asked them to sign those and both very
obligingly agreed.

There is rumor , however, that another woman has a bigger
better tale to tell
she had them sign flesh. (only at NCECA)

I thought I'd lost them.

and no.....I never did wear them. ( and yes I'm chuckling
here!)

Kathy
