Dear Kate McCulloch,=20

Unless your teacher provides an aesthetic rationale for this proposition =
then they are only making a value judgement based on their own opinions.

Your own response, to carry out line blend tests, is a good call.

Regarding low temperature glazes. I hope the technology behind the =
admonition "Lead based glazes cannot be used" has been explained to you =
because this is an untrue generalisation. Lead silicate is used =
industrially for whiteware. Products are routinely tested to show that =
they have a Lead release factor within specified limits. It is =
inadvisable to use raw Lead chemicals, oxides and carbonate, because of =
the danger to operatives and the difficulty in creating a corrosion =
resistant product.

There is a lot of literature to read on this topic.

Best regards,

Ivor Lewis.
