in search of a transparent matt/shiny glaze for standard e/ware

Hello!
I had a chat with my tutor about my work a few weeks back and she said the
the glaze was too shiny (I used CTM G14 Tranparent Shiny fired to 1100)
then after changing to Matt (I used CTM G5 Transparent Matt fired to 1100)
she then said it wasn't shiny enough! CTM don't give out the details of
what is in their glazes so I can't find out what makes the glaze matt or
shiny. I'm going to do a line blend to see if I can find a compromise.
I was wondering if any of you have a glaze recipe that you know gives a
soft shine but without any colouring that I can use on e/ware. I have some
copper in my coloured slip that I've used so I've been told I can't use a
glaze that contains lead. Hope you can be of some assistance :)

Dear Kate;

The fastest, if not the easiest way to find that surface is to do a
Currie Grid Tile, as found in Ian Currie's "Revealing Glazes". Go to
http://ian.currie.to/ to see it, or to order the book. Anyone
interested in pursuing glaze chemistry can benefit greatly from his
method.
