I've got more new work on the blog - including what happens when I mix
my love of fiber and my love of playing in the mud. Thanks for
looking.

I've posted new work on the blog. Not a bit of controversy in what I've
posted. The controversial pieces aren't glazed yet. BTW, while
working on the latest penis piece in class on Saturday, my teacher said
she liked the "skirt" I was putting on my container. Oh. And here I was
working hard to make it look like lips. Sigh.

Spent part of the class working on a raku piece about what it's like to
be in prison. It was inspired by the preparation I was doing for a
trial last Friday. Among other things, I discovered I really like hand
building with raku clay. I think it's all that sand in the clay that
makes the clay stay put while I'm working with it.

Much time was spent being frustrated with the um.... crap coming off
the wheel. Somedays, I just don't got it.

Thanks for looking.

Deb - looking forward to having three days off this week so I can spend
quality time in the sewing room getting my brain reorganized.

I did a saggar firing and a raku firing on Friday. Not everything went
wonderfully, but the photos are on the blog.

Thanks for looking. All comments, suggestions and advice is welcome.

you'd like to see it. Thanks for looking.

Hi Deb:

I just spent fifteen or so fascinating minutes on your blog. Just wanted
to let you know how much I enjoyed it.

FIber used to be an obsession of mine also. During that adventure I
managed to collect five or six sewing machines, a huge stash of fabrics
and threads and many interesting memories. Your latest quilt is
excellent! I believe the only way anyone can appreciate pieced curves is
to do them. I never became very good at it. I think you have it down!

Can't help wondering what your interpretation of the raku piece "Prison"
is. The first thing that came to me was, "being in a little box
surrounded by metals and nothing to satisfy our common need for richness."

Interesting blog. Also, your mugs are getting better...

I posted the latest ceramic work on the blog including the surprises I
got using Pete's Copper Red. I love that glaze. Even better, the glaze
seems to like me.

Thanks for looking.

Deb,

Those are some neat looking tiles.

And I love the cat paw handles...I may have to grab one of my three to
"model" for me!

Hi Deb,
First I would say that the glaze looks pretty thin for macro crystals to
form. When I was playing around with crystals a few years ago, I was amazed
just how thick the application had to be in order to form crystals.

It's been a while, but it seems that 1/8 to 3/16" thick was about right - o=
f
course they run like crazy!

I also wonder about how big the pieces are? Are these small buttons or plat=
e
size?

Larry

I took photos of what came out of the kiln. I'm about ready to give up
on crystal glazes. These aren't great photos, but I have to wait until
the weekend to take decent photos outside. Meanwhile, here's an idea
of what came out of the kiln.

Thanks for looking.

Jim is still chewing on the idea of a kiln and trying to figure out if =3D
we should get a gas kiln (my preference) or an electric kiln (Jim's =3D
preference). And no, the budget does not allow for two kilns at the =3D
moment.=3D20

Anyway, my latest work, which has nothing to do with clay, is on the =3D
blog. Thanks for looking.=3D20
