Hi all,

In the most recent Ceramics Monthly is an ad for this book. Right up
my alley and I want to buy it. I have written PottersShop hoping they
have it. Any other ideas about how I could get a hold of this?" It says
"Falcon Co, San Diego". I googled that without a hit. Axner's doesn't
list it. Amazon doesn't have it either. Am also writing Ceramics Monthly.

Thanks,

Eleanora

I ordered Conrad's 'Complete Compendium' years
ago, and I recall the difficulty of finding that
obscure publisher. I brought that ad to a local
independent bookstore (Page One, in Albuquerque,
NM), who ordered it with no problems.

Most 'big box' book retailers will only order from
certain suppliers or publishers that they have
arrangements with. Barnes & Noble is the worst
this way - if it's not already in their warehouse
somewhere, forget it.

The upshot is: this is why we need our independent
suppliers and shops.

Not all of them have earned my loyalty; their stock
on hand is inevitably limited but some won't make
any effort to give better customer service. Then
they wonder why people get lured away to the big
shiny selection (and coffee bar) at the mega-store.

The shops that do try, though, are golden.

You also might give a try at "Powells" in Portland Oregon. They have a
website, just Google it. If they don't have it, they are usually quite
helpful in trying to find the hard to find. Good luck, hope this helps.

Leland
Try http://www.alibris.com . They may very well have an out of print issue
new, or used via-a-vis one of the used bookstores in their network.
