Hi all. I never know whether to answer folks like Bonnie on Clayart or
offline.
If I do it as I usually d (off), you could deem me stuck-up, ungrateful.

Bonnie is an amazing potter making things on three legs that I can't possibly
do, huge, huge vessels by adding coils, then continuing by pulling the coils up
onto the form. She has
earned her title as a dedicated pro.

I am sorry she revealed my complaints to her about stairs. I am on them,
up and
down, all day long. It is just that I am arthritic, busted my kneecap into
7 pieces
and splinters in a fall in 2002, right next to my bed when a drawer came
out and fell
on my foot. So an elder complains to an elder. I didn't really want the
entire
list to know I bitch about stairs. I live in a big house. People who don't
know me all that well ask if I am still in that big house. Moving would end my
career, so I am up and down and up and down all day. I try to make a work
period
without coming back to first flr. But I forget to start the CDs on stereo or
I need a phone no., urgent, that is not in phone book in studio.

I have to tell one anecdote about being in the hospital with that kneecap
surgery for
3 screws and sutures in '02: The surgeon came in daily. Once he came in
late in aft.
and I said: "Sorry, I just received an international call. It is urgent
and I cannot
talk with you now." It was my superwonderful friend, Russel Fouts, who
had heard
about my accident from marta. The surgeon didn't come back that day, but
the next a.m.

And when I go to woodfire conferences or even take work to a woodfiring kiln, I
don't work the firing any more. I gift the owner of the kiln. If
teaching, I show
slides to his or her classes.
I did go to a terrific woodfire conference in Cedar Rapids, Iowa a yr. and
a half ago
and I learned a lot and enjoyed all the contacts. My close buddy, marta
matray, had
a wonderful piece in a show of stars. She was my roommie there too.

Anyway, I was just about to go downstairs to start work on the wheel. All
this past
week has been handbuilding wirecut slab teapots to get one for that show at
NCECA.
Now I need to fill the bisque kiln and make a few holiday gifts.

Best. Bacia

Hi Barcia, I did not feel good about exposing my golden age aches and pains,
but I felt very strongly that I must share my incredible joy of being almost
pain free as well as the reason I am functional again. I understand how
uncomfortable you felt, and your reasons, but I must tell you I am grateful to Bonnie
for letting the light shine in for potters like me while she has soldiered on
these past few years. An admirable woman and artist as are you. Barcia, I
am still deaf as a post...the tonic's not a cure-all! All the best, Lori P.
