Howdy folks,

I'm going to relocate to Tucson in the near future. I'm planning to set
up an electric kiln in an outbuilding at the house. Have any of you had
experience with the electrical permitting process and/or have an
electrician to recommend? Please answer me off list at jbearusa@yahoo.com.

Thanks--

Jerry

Jerry,
The local ceramics supplier recommended the company (Electric Effects) =20
to hook up my kiln this past Sept.--I came from Michigan where we had =20
basements so no problem there. I didn't ask anyone for permission and =20
don't think you would need to either. The local clay supplier (laguna =20
distributor) is called Marjon and as near as I can tell its the only =20
game in town. I've been quite surprised, no disappointed, at the lack =20
of suppliers, potters, and studios. There just doesn't seem to be much =20
interest here. I had a great situation in Michigan in a city =20
considerably smaller than this where we had 2 great studios and many =20
firing options. There is a Guild of sorts here called SACA which I =20
have joined but have not attended any of their meetings yet. In =20
January I'm going to take a class at the local Jr. College and have =20
toured the facility which was just so so. If you want you can call me =20
when you get here 990-9559. Oh, the electrician was very knowledgeable =20
and has hooked up many kilns in the area.
