converting an old electric kiln to soda

I am wanting to convert an old top load electric to soda fire kiln. I'm
wondering what anyone has to say about the pros and cons of propane vs.
natural gas. Does natural gas have to come off the house? I've just
consulted with someone who builds kilns like this with venturi burner setup
attached to a stand on the bottom of the kiln, side holes for spraying the
soda, and a top hole. Period. Sounds too simple. Oh, and pyrometer for
adjusting when to turn up. Any feedback? Sounds too simple. I have only done
electric firing myself but want to be able to do mid range soda as well.
Are there more efficient ways of tracking time/temp in such an environment?
Can I use a digital pyrometer? Anything I should know about the ITC coating?
I'm not a technical wiz but this sounds simple enough that I was thinking to
just buy this stand (w/ 3 venturi burners that sit on bottom of kiln), drill
the holes and go??

You would have to consider it to be a very temporary kiln. A soda firing
will eat a soft brick kiln for dinner. If it's something you'd really like
to get into for any length of time, hard brick is the way to go...
