Create your own unique imagery!
This combination demonstration and hands-on workshop will present=20
several ways to transfer original imagery to the surface of your clay=20
work. We will begin with a slide presentation of ceramic works created=20=
using the transfered image, followed by a step by step demonstration of=20=
creating your own unique ceramic decals using silkscreen techniques and=20=
ceramic decal papers, while also showing how to use the silk screened=20
images directly on clay using underglazes. We will then move on to=20
newsprint transfers, demonstrating the techniques used to transfer an=20
image using underglazes and newsprint, followed by a hands-on session=20
in which each participant will transfer a newsprint image to a provided=20=
leather hard tile, which will be left at the studio for firing, ready=20
to pick up in 2 weeks.
Instructor: Flora Cruells Benzal
Flora attended the University of Hawaii, majoring in ceramics. Flora=20=
uses ceramic decals often in her own work, and we are lucky to have her=20=
share her experiences and knowledge with us!
FEE: $65.00
includes: handouts outlining all steps covered in demonstrations,=20
clay, underglazes and bisque firing for hands-on portion of the=20
workshop.
additional materials: Students are advised to bring a notebook and pen=20=
for notetaking during demonstration.
