Shakeel, the element may have burned out at the connector
inside the electrical box. In that case, you won't need a
new element. You can repair it just by changing an element
connector.

But changing the element is not easy. The element in the
QuikFire 6 is embedded in fiber. You would have to tear out
the old element and use Fiber Frax to embed the new one into
the muffle. It is likely that the new one will burn out,
because the element can't be embedded too deeply. It has to
remain right near the surface.

By the way, never fire the QuikFire 6 hotter than 2000
degrees F. Otherwise the element will burn out. I discovered
that the hard way. The kiln seems to last forever as long as
you don't fire it past 2000 degrees.

One time I fired a self-supporting witness cone in the
QuikFire. The firing was so rapid that the cone didn't
bend--it bloated. That kiln will reach 1000 degrees F in
only five minutes. It is popular for glass fusing and
enameling on copper. I've also seen it used for raku.

I found a healthy looking, but with its elements burned out, Quickfire 6 at
an old potter's the other day.

I bought it off him real cheap. Now, I know there are guys selling elements
for all sorts of kilns out there, but to buy one and have it shipped to
Malaysia would just negate the fun of having bought it cheap. I would like
to wind my own element.

Does anyone know of the specifications for this kiln elements? The gauge
used, and the length ets?

Any help would be appreciated.
