Shinn on Nov 11-12

In this two-day, partial hands-on workshop (November 11-12) at Mother
Earth Clay Art Center (Sunnyvale, CA), celebrated ceramic artist Bill
Shinn will guide you through two of the techniques he is famous for:

Day One - Handbuilding large forms
The making and use of slump and hump molds for creating large handbuilt
forms will be demonstrated utilizing a variety of materials, including
throwing from a mold. Bill's lively and engaging demos will also include
techniques for surface enrichment - rolling stamps, nerikami, sgraffito,
and others.

Day Two - Making original extruder dies
Bill has published an article on creative use of the extruder in
Ceramics Monthly and on Day Two he will show you how to: design and cut
original dies, alter shapes after forming, etc. Creating extruded tools
for making other types of functional and sculptural forms will also be
included. The afternoon session will conclude with a period of hands-on.
