potters in las vegas-check them out

Hi Tony, Linda,

For some reason residents of Henderson like to
pretend to others that Henderson is 'Las
Vegas'...or are confused by others to be
figuratively thought of as being 'in' Las Vegas.

Henderson is not Las Vegas.

Any more than say 'San Jose' or 'Oakland', is San
Francisco...

Henderson deserves to have it's own
identity-recognition, and it too has grown
like-a-weed from the distal sleepy neighborhoods
that originally surrounded the Titanium Plant.

It is a fourty minute drive from here to there, or
more...

Henderson does indeed enjoy the presence of the
various Potters you mention.

There is also an enclave in North Las Vegas, also
a distinct and
seperate Community, if closer...where classes and
Workshops
are held...which
Amy Kline has created. I have met Amy and she is a
very nice gal, but I am long over due to visit her
Studio and say hello.

Billie Singer offers Classes at her Studio in
Henderson, as does Donna Potter in hers...and they
are also wonderful people and charming talented
Potters.

These are all great people, and I was not going to
leave them out of my rambles, I just had not got
to it yet, and being overtired and over-worked
lately, I could not quite assemble their names in
my mind for sure, and did not want to risk
screwing it up.

And, none of them are 'in' Las Vegas...which (
pedant that I am, ) had qualified the initial
muses of the question...

Lol...

But thanks for helping me out there...!

Best wishes,

Phil
Las Vegas

Linda,

Put wondering aside and go visit Tom and Elaine Coleman. http://www.tomandelainecoleman.com/

There is a quite a group of potters developing and people giving classes:

Donna Potter--gives classes at her studio. Tom makes cameo appearances there giving specialized instruction via workshops on Saturdays. You can contact her via the Colemans.

Billye Singer (a student of the Coleman's) gives private and group lessons via her studio as well I think still: http://www.billyesinger.com/contact.htm

Amy Kline, with guidance from Coleman, has created what may be the Andersen Ranch of Las Vegas. http://www.potterydesignsinc.com/amyschoolofclay.htm

Your pottery experience is what you make of it. Seek out those you feel you have something to learn from, internalize, create, innovate.
