Or you can use CMC (I'll try this: carboxymethelcellulose gum) -- easy to
get, cheap, non-toxic (they put it in food products) and works really well
both as a glaze additive and as a solution to spray a pot with after glazing
and before moving (let it dry -- it's quick). Search the archives for CMC
and you get details on how to mix and use it. It also helps multiple
sprayed layers of glaze adhere to each other without problems. I love the
stuff. It will happily co-exist in a glaze with bentonite, by the way (at
least in my experience). Unlike bentonite, however, it totally fires out.

Lili,
Just two percent of bentonite added to the glaze will make surface hard
enough to be handled and not powder off, in my experience.
Best wishes,
