Just a comment on two details.
#1. Galvanized steel burns off a toxic gas when heated. That is why
it is never used for making your own burners. Black pipe is recommend
there.
and
#2. I make my own buttons from raku clay.After several years and many
workshops plus personal use, they are fine. Don't know what porcelain
would do.
Anyway, just some friendly comments. The basic idea sounds excellent.
