^6 shino

There are two recipes I use to get a cone 6 electric shino

Nutmeg - Find it in the archives. It is a wonderful glaze especially good
layering with Jayne Shatz matt glazes.

Bailey's Red without Kaolin - See his cone 6 book.

The Bailey's Red thin will give you a darker glaze and is good to contrast
with nutmeg for shino type effects.

My web page has some test tube pictures of some combinations.

Here is a quick picture taken of the nutmeg/white satin combination on
pots out of the the kiln this morning. The firing actually went to a
cone 7. This was my first glazing with this combination so I want to
tweak the application a bit, but this should give you an idea. Hit the
foward arrow for another picture of this combination.

Thanks for sharing the photos. What clay body do you use?

Always happy to try and contribute to the group. I was trying out Laguna
Speckled Buff.
