The 577 Foundation in Perrysburg, OH (outside of Toledo,OH and about an
hour from Detroit, 2 hours from Cleveland) will be hosting our annual
pottery workshop, this year featuring two potters. The weekend workshop
will be on Sat. Oct 14 and Sun. Oct 15, 2006 from 10-4 pm each day and
the cost is $50 (total). We will feature a day with each artist, Ed
Corle and Mark Nafziger. Ed (Saturday) is the ceramics prof at
University of Findlay and will be doing a hands on "make your own tool"
part but also lots of demo's of his wonderful pottery, question/answer
time and a slide presentation. Mark (Sunday) is the resident potter at
Sauder Village (his work can been seen at saudervillage.com) he will be
doing tons of demo's featuring his incredible slip work, which
participants will be able to try their hand at under Mark's supervision.
He will also have question/answer time and a slide presentation. Both
are extremely accomplished potter's and I have had so many rave reviews
from people who have taken workshops with both potters in the past!
Space is limited and filling fast please see our web page where you can
also register at 577foundation.org It will be a great time. We do a
potluck lunch each day and if you need help with hotels or area info or
questions please email me directly jbeutler@577foundation.org or call me
at (419)872-0305. Our facility is 12 wonderful acres of nature and you
will have a great time!
Last year we hosted Mel, who many of you came too, hopefully we will see
many more of you this year!
Thanks-

Greetings fellow potters!

I just wanted to pass along information about a workshop I'll be =3D
conducting at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC from =3D
January 23-30. We'll be spending time working with bisque molds and =3D
plaster molds to create large and/or extreme forms. Participants will =3D
learn how to create these bisque molds, as well as fire off a kilnload =3D
or two of our pots utilizing sprayed glazes, including ash glazes that I =
=3D
have worked with for over 30 years. I'm willing to take you wherever =3D
you want to go with these processes.
I understand there are a couple of slots left.
For information, you can check out the course catalogue at =3D
www.FolkSchool.org .

Thanks for putting up with my shameless self-promotion, and Happy New =3D
Year to all...

Anyone who wants to give themselves an
extra Christmas gift should try for a
place in Richard's workshop. He does
amazing things with plaster and bisque
forms, and makes work that is just plain
beautiful. His ash glazes are delicious,
interesting to eye and hand. And he ain't
a bad teacher, either.....

Richard is self-taught, too, so for those
who need a boost and a step up, you couldn't do better
than one of his workshops. Go for it.

Great way to start the New Year.
