Pyrotol is listed as an ingredient in John Hesselberth's Peach gloss =
glaze. What is it? Who carries it? Is there a sub?

Thanks,

You may already have this, but pyrotrol is produced by
Resco Products, Inc. at it's Piedmont Minerals
facility in Hillsborough, NC. I think they bag it now
in Greensboro. Other subsidiary Cedar Heights Clay
usually has some in stock in Oak Hill, Ohio. You
won't find it around too much in supply houses.

Hi Dawn,

I have pyrotrol on my list of stuff to run down as it is a clay body ingredient
used in the same way as pyrophyllite. "Pyrotrol products impart higher
strength in electrical porcelains and reduce dunting problems associated
with traditional porcelain bodies if substituted for silica content. The Pyrotrol
group of mineral products offers a controlled blend of milled
Andalusite/Pyrophyllite ores"(from digitalfire website).

Don't know anything about it as a glaze ingredient.
