real bone ash?

updated wed 2 aug 06

Does anyone have a source for real calcined bone ash? Not the synthetic
Tri-Calcium Phosphate. I need to make some inquiries but if someone knows a
supplier that would quickly help.

Thanks,

P.S. I am working on my photos from China hoping to have them available for
viewing soon. First things first.

Yup. You can roast your own animal bones until they're soft and grind them
(reasonably easily) to a powder. At Brian Gartside's workshop at Linda
Blossom's studio, Lori Leary brought her own.

If you want to buy bone ash as a powder, Standard Ceramics of Pittsburgh
says that their bone ash is also made from real animal bones and is not
synthetic. Phone them M-F 8-4 at: 412-276-6333.

Isn't that something you can get at garden centers? I've seen bags of bone
meal...for roses I think. Oh, wait maybe thats not ash...but if it is just
ground bone seems like it would be fairly easily turned into ash.
