I'm thoroughly ashamed and disgusted by the people on this list. The
problem I'm having with this discussion is this focus on cheap prices and
cheap imported goods. You people are tehe same ones who cry "FOUL" when the
Chinese or omeone else sends over cheap goods. Your focus on price is
The ONLY way you can keep your local economies healthy is to buy
local....even if you have to pay a feew bucks extra. And why do you need
healthy local economy? Because these are the people in your 50 mile radius.
The money you spent at Ikea paid some local person a minimal wage, a few
pennies to the local tax base, and the rest went out of town, to corporate
headuaraters and underpaid foreign workers.
I've never heard someone talk about the high quality whatever they got at
the local discount shop....only the price. Folks, there's something more
important than low price.

Whoa whoa there Tom!
If I can find a great wheel stool that helps me make better pots and
doesn't kill my back, I don't care where it came from.
(I was going to say something about today's cars and the fact that
they have bits and pieces made everywhere and assembled for market
likewise. Don't think we'll boycott them for that reason. But I
decided not to open another can of worms 'cause I don't do
