Hi all!
Unless you fire bare clay only...which I do
like...you glaze...slip glaze or fritted glaze or some
mix of the two...and I'm going to have the good
fortune of talking about the subject not just once,
but twice, at the Potters Council workshop at Francis
Marion University in Florence, SC, USA on July 28 and
29. I look forward to seeing Clayarters there...and
if you are one, please let me know!
Also, if you know of someone who's interested in
glazes, or troubled by them, my approach will be to
talk about how my research has revealed the amazing
extent of glaze/clay body interaction at high fire.
Also I'll field questions and try, as much as
possible, to address audience concerns. Glazes are
really quite simple...if you organize your approach
and understand some basic fundamentals...and I'll try
to explain what those are.
As Doug reminded us, the early registration $50
discount is only available through July 15, so take
advantage of it! Register at
www.potterscouncil.org/southernfried
or talk to Danielle at 614.794.5827
I will present my glaze research as part of an
exciting panel discussion (it will have me rubbing
shoulders with the distinguished Dr. William Carty
from Alfred University) moderated by Pete Pinnell
during NCECA in Louisville in March, 2007. But if
you're within driving distance of Florence, don't wait
so long. Also, the panel format won't allow as much
time, either for information or to answer personal
questions, as is available in a small group workshop
like Doug has put together.
Good potting, as always!

summer day in a mountain valley of Idaho, USA

Fantastic David. Wish I could be there. I know it will be a great presentation.
