I have around 10lbs of green iron oxide. I purchased it from a older potter
who was quiting. the bags were from Los Angeles. I've used it where iron
oxide is called for.........

Dear Paul Harshman ,

Perhaps you would oblige us by doing a small test in your next firing,

Put a small sample of your Green Iron Oxide on a plain unglazed ceramic =
tile and calcine it at your highest firing temperature, then report the =
effect you observe.

Another test that would be revealing would be to place a small amount, =
about a gram in a test tube and heat it. The effect here is to look for =
water condense song on the cooler part of the test tube.

I ask because I can find no reference to a Green Iron Oxide in the CRC =
Handbook yet there are several Green Iron Salts.

I also know there are natural clays that appear green when mined but =
change to orange of Terracotta when fired.

Thanks for any help you maybe able to give.

Best regards,

Ivor Lewis.
