Thankyou everyone for all your excellent input on finding a digital camera. We decided on a Nikon D-50 SLR.
Now I need any info anyone can give on an appropriate lighting set up for shooting pots.
Tony Ferguson, where are you? I'll try resending my email off list.

I highly recommend the EZ Cube
soft light box with matching lights.

http://www.ezcube.com/

Fast and repeatable results.

Also, buy a black to white graded
background paper and you have
it all!

Hi David

I use the EZY Cube set up and the lights as they suggested on their website.
