Hi Gang !

I was just wondering how have people who have been to La Merridiana managed to get the work they made there home?

I live in the Middle East. Every year I pack up pots to take to England and
the USA. They go into duffle bags - not hard-sided suitcases. Wrap each
pot in a generous cocoon of bubble wrap and then put one to two disposable
nappies (diapers) around that and use a bit of extra tape to keep the whole
package shut. If I can't feel any edges when I squeeze the wrapped pots, I
figure they are padded enough. I have never has one breakage. The bubble
wrap is reusable and the nappies can be used over and over again until you
find a baby in need. (I have friends in England who have used those packing
nappies on their grandkids in an emergency.)

You are allowed two suitcases across the Atlantic; maximum weight is 32kg/70
lbs. I find that duffle bags weigh the least and can take the most. Take
your bubble wrap, tape and Pampers with you.

Best regards,
Carol

Pietro has a shipping set up although it is much cheaper to carry
them home with you. Carrying
small pack backs are a good way to go. I always have people bring
little luggage. You have to
be able to stow it on the shelf above your seat on the train. There
are washing facilities, tools, aprons,
so no need for a lot of luggage. It leaves more room for taking
things home. Although in my architectural
ceramics classes we work on big group projects. People have taken
their molds home.

Thanks Marcia !

What a great idea! I normally walk with a cane so one hand is restricted to begin with . Backpacks will work perfectly!! I planned on taking the bare minimum amount of clothes anyway. A couple of shirts & wrinkle skirts for going to dinner or into churches ( they are long-ish, to the ankle & very respectable) & clay clothes. Basicly, just padding for the pots I bring home. Do you have any suggestons on what back size ? A small one is the type people/ kids use for school & a big one is the type that have the strap that goes around the waist/hip. Or a rolling one? Do you have a preferance? By the way, do you ever do workshops in Seattle?

I use a flexible one that fits into my carry-on bag. I check the
carry-on going home and carry on the pack pack.
As for Seattle, no one has ever invited me to do a workshop in
Seattle. I was in the NW Regional Invitational in
Yakima a few years ago.

Enjoy Tuscany and La Meridiana. It is a
beautiful place to work.

Logan,

Don't, it's REALLY expensive to ship. Cull heavily, Make gifts, take
only the best or the ones you want to learn from and will fit safely
in your carry-on.

Which workshop are you going to?

Been there, done that, have wonderful memories and a soulfull of
inspiration to prove it.
