I've done basically the same thing with a cardboard box lined with
photocopy paper, a large sheet of dove grey construction paper cut to
size and a 70 watt halogen bulb in one of those articulated lamps.

Scroll down about 1/2 way down the page. Sorry the photos of the box
aren't as great as the photos I get using the box. They were put up
quickly in response to a request to see the setup.

I've also discovered that if you set the box on it's back, shine the
halogen light through the opening which is now on the side, you can
get great photos of flat stuff.
