John I'm no expert on kiln building, I've only built two, but mixing
hard and soft bricks sounds like a bad idea to me. Mike Gordon

Forgive me for being blunt, Mike, but if you don't specifically know about
this, why would you make such a cautionary suggestion on Clayart? There's
nothing at all wrong with mixing hard and soft bricks in a kiln. It's done
all the time - hardbrick inside and softbrick outside on a salt or soda
kiln, or hardbrick in the high-stress areas of a reduction kiln and
softbrick elsewhere, many other examples.

I don't mind your bluntness at all Vince, I was thinking that he was
using hard brick mixed in with soft in the same wall not as you stated,
one inside of the other. Mike Gordon

Mine has a hardbrick exterior and a softbrick liner and arch.
