trash can/smoke bisque firing

Ok! I'm looking for "recipes" for doing bisque firing in either a pit or
trash can, even a drum. Since I'm new at the firing part I'm not sure what
to search on or were to find a book or instructions to do what I want.

I want to do both the bisque firing and raku firing so I need to find
something that can tell me what I need in the way of firing material to do
both.

I found "instructions" at one time but I have no idea were. Plus the old
memory is failing me these days. LOL

Can anyone help me please!

Thanks!
Donna

Vince;
Certainly what you say is correct; but there might be some value for
someone to attempt bisque firing in a pit...if only for the
experience. I did attempt just such a project some years ago and did
achieve a measure of vitrification (if I'm using the work right) and a
beautiful satin black finish. I built a loose silo/kiln of red brick
(about three feet high an a foot and a half wide)and filled it with
sawdust and pots. I started a fire on top and put a garbage can lid
on top. The firing took about a day and when it was done I had a pile
of ashes with some small pots in the ashes. I'm sure there are plenty
of better ways to do this worthwhile exercise.
Best Wishes;
