Hey Wanda,

I lived in Issaquah, WA for 8 years and I understand the humidity =
problem. A dehumidifier from Costco set up in an area to dry your pots =
will help. I kept my pots in a room with the dehumidifier prior to =
glazing, after glazing (slip or ferric application) up until firing. =
They were darn dry! Fire them, clean them, back to dehumidifier and =
then coat with wax to seal. As far as clay goes I used and still use =
all Laguna clays. My favorites for Horsehair and Naked Raku are 10T =
EM103 and ^6 Porcelain (Porcelain 5 in your area). Both clays burnish =
very nicely. The 10T has excellent thermal qualities for small to =
medium work. Large flat pieces or wall plates are best done in EM 345 =
(a smooth raku clay with Kyanite). I don't have any problems with the =
porcelain on small to medium pieces. 10T and Porcelain burnish like a =
dream and keep a very high shine. Em 345 needs a coating of terra sig =
to get a nice unblemished surface. I hope this helps with your problems =
or at least gives you a starting point. Good luck!
Peace,
