lid cracks

Recently someone had a question about cracks on the
bottom of the kiln. What does one do about cracks in
the lid? The crack is big enough to drop "crumbs". We
always add a shelf at the top to prevent the "crumbs" from
dropping & destroying a piece. What can we do to repair
the cracks?

First, contact the kiln manufacturer and ask if they can supply you with a
kiln cement for the lid.

Check the metal band around the lid and see if you can tighten the screw
clamp, if it has one.

Another idea, if possible, would be to flip the lid upside down.

Last resort, purchase a new lid.
