All this material that Charlie has just shared is so welcome. I wish I
was ready to share my work but I have just not gotten far enough along
yet.

Awhile back I posted about the closeness of the cones in the 01-1 range,
I would certainly extend that to the ^1-3 range. I have stopped thinking in
terms of ^1 and started thinking in terms of ^1-3.

I am following Jonathan Kaplan's advice in making clay with a 6% addition
of pyrophillite. I have tested clays with and without it, and the pyrophillite
reduces shrinkage and warping.

Linda Arbuckle wrote a post I put on clayart awhile back talking about what
a problem neph sy was as a body flux, so I have been avoiding it.

Not to put too big a point on it, but I have not been thinking of ^1 as
earthenware. Given the recent discussion of ^04 work, I am wondering
where earthenware ends and stoneware begins. I always thought that
earthenware was where feldspar wouldn't work for the flux. Since feldspar
works as the flux at ^1-3 I don't consider that earthenware.

Laguna sells a few ^1 glazes, a clear and a white. They also sell ^1
casting slip.
