If you have a little time to waste it is sometimes
funny to look at the poorly written English that is
used in some of these sorry attempts to get you to
believe that the message is coming from a "real"
source. Also, it is apparent that many of the messages
are just copied from one another.

Subject: Mel's computer

I had to laugh a little at the time frame here, I have
an imac I bought
in Jan 04, and it hasn't been shut off since, except
when I leave town
for a few days, otherwise I have it on sleep. I hit
the return button
and 3 seconds later it's on and running. Today I had
107 emails the
first 33 were spam until I got to Mel's message. The
last time I didn't
check my mail at least twice a day I had over 300 to go
through. But it
takes seconds to scan the "from" list to find my family
or clayart
msgs. the rest get deleted after I " select all " and
delete. Some of
the spams are kinda funny, since I have no PayPal
account nor do I bank
with Chase, Bank of Hawwaii, Bank of America,
Washington Mutual nor do
I know anybody in Africa, India or South America. And
some of the names
are incredible! Mike, watching clouds of pollen fly
past my window.

Fraudulent spam also offers an interesting study of
the criminal mind. The writing, though crude, uses
proven techniques of manipulation.
