I have both a Thomas Stuart and a Brent CXC. For my money I would select the Thomas Stuart. Very smooth, quiet, and powerful. It also has a large splash pan which is a major selling factor for me. I seldom take the splash pan off since it is very easy to clean right on the wheel. However, when taking it off it is wise to use a small amount of anti-seize on the shaft it sits on to ensure it lifts off easily. You can get it at most any automotive supply store. Your Thomas Stuart dealer should tell you that. I had to learn it at NCECA in Portland.

Good Luck,

Can anyone out there give me some advice?
I am in the market of buying a new wheel and have no idea which one is a
better machine. I have heard wonderful things about both the Thomas Stuart
and Shimpo but wonder which is a better choice. Has anyone had any
experience with either?
Thanks in advance!

I don't have either of these particular models but I do have the TS Pro wit=
h
the big honking motor and absolutely love it. Previously I had the TS
kickwheel and was very happy with that one also. The customer service was
superb. Shimpo has been in the business longer. I would recommend seeing if
your local supplier will let you try each out.

I just went through this same exercise and ended up getting the Shimpo VL
Whisper. I tried every wheel I could get my hands on and did some long
distance traveling to get to the Thomas Stuart. I was disappointed in the
Thomas Stuart because it was a lot louder than I had anticipated and I
didn=92t want to spend the extra money on the SSX drive to make it quieter.
I have a small space in which to work and have a bit of a hearing issue, so
sound/noise was a big issue. The Whisper is wonderful, no noise! The only
thing I wish it had is the Thomas Stuart single piece splash pan!

If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact me off list.
