You are correct!! The School of mines pottery exhibit that was at the
Custer County Art Center must have been from the SOUTH Dakota School
of Mines, DUH!!!
Sorry about that.

Colorado's School of Mines is in Golden, so is Coors. I used to be a
graphic designer at Coors and got to tour their porcelain plant. The
kilns were amazing.

Susan,
There are several Schools of Mines in the West. Colorado, Montana and
North Dakota have them.
They are state schools and instead of "agriculture" they focus on
they natural resources in mining in the state.
ND School of Mines is in Rapid City in the Black Hills (gold rush).
Montana School of Mines is in Butte...biggest man made hole in the
world from extracting copper. Colorado's School of Mines is in
Colorado Springs I think south of Denver. Coors Pottery and Van
Biggle Pottery were also there. So was gold.

That would be strange, since Rapid City is in South Dakota. The South
Dakota School of Mines might be in Rapid City, but the North Dakota School
of Mines is at University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, in the
northeastern corner of the state.

Yo Marcia,
Not to be contrary dahlink but you
peaked my curiosity because I thought I was told that AZ had the
biggest copper mine hole so I did a search and it seems
Utah holds that honor....see
http://www.mining-technology.com/projects/bingham/
Coors is in Golden CO - the entire area smells like beer
Van Briggle Pottery - is in Colorado Springs CO touring it is a walk back in
time

Gayle Bair - personally thinks the biggest ___ holes are in WA DC........
you fill in the blank.

Sorry but the North Dakota School of Mines is not in South Dakota but
in Grand Forks North Dakota. My grandmother did pottery there in the 50's.
