Does this ever sound like the place for anybody who's even
thinking about woodfiring and/or building a kiln for woodfiring.

Jack Troy runs such a great workshop. I was lucky to go to
one of his in Mesa, Arizona, my first year in pottery. What an
incredible experience. AND he didn't have the Pixiegama at
that time. If I were within a day's drive of Huntingdon, PA......
I'd be packing up. I'll be hoping for a report from some willing
claybud..... I'll try not to let my Envy Vibes spoil your Grand
Experience.

The info for the workshop just went to Clayart under Barbara
Brown's name.

Hi Barbara,
Somehow I can't log on to the clayart list to post
this. Would you mind sending it in?
Thanks, and a hug.

(Anagama)2
The anagama kiln at Juniata College and Jack Troy?s
new Pixiegama, 1 mile away, will be the focus of an
intensive two-week workshop in wood-firing early this
summer, from June 18-30. Designed to introduce
ceramists to the technique, practice, and aesthetics
of anagama firing, the course will feature
simultaneous firings in both kilns, preceeded by three
days of production, two days of loading; 4-5day
firings, followed by a 3-day cool down, unloading, and
evaluation.

A variety of clays and glazes formulated for anagama
firing will have been mixed and aged prior to the
workshop. Lectures, slides, and discussions will
amplify production of work for the firing. Wood for
both firings will have been prepared and stacked. If
there is interest in a soda-firing, that can also be
done.

The cost of the workshop is $900, which includes room,
board, tuition, and all materials. Workshop
participants will be housed in dormitories close to
the studio and meals will be served in the college
dining room. Tuition for commuters, including lunch,
will be $400.

Juniata College is a private liberal arts institution
situated in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania; about 40 miles
