One of my favorite public art pieces anywhere is a tile piece by Barbara
Grygutis called "Cruising San Mateo". It's at the intersection of San Mateo
Avenue and Old Route 66 in Albuquerque. It's a 1957 Chevy on a huge
concrete arch, all covered in handmade tile. There are also several smaller
pieces in the San Mateo Ave. median. Everybody there calls it "The Chevy
on a Stick". Be sure to drive by it.

Gari,
If your in Santa Fe there are litterally 200 galleries, and about 3 or 4
Clay only ones that are just awesomely good.
The number one place to go is Santa Fe Clay. Santa Fe Pottery is right down
the street and there are a few good ones on Canyon Road.
There is a gallery guide that is good and in every hotel and most galleries
have them too. I'd suggest to check that out.

Santa Fe and Albuquerque? You're in potters' heaven!

There are a number of pueblos nearby - Acoma, Santa Clara, San Ildefonso, to
name a couple of biggies (big as in important, not size). And don't forget
Taos where you can see some of the work of Tammy Garcia and Nathan
Youngblood as well as many others at the Rainbow Gallery.

Tammy Garcia is probably the most innovative and talented Native American
artist alive today. Pottery, jewelry, sculpture, ... If she hasn't done it,
it's probably because she just hasn't gotten to it yet.
