Northern Arizona University will offer two summer workshops in July and August. For both
workshops participants are welcome and encouraged to bring bisqueware. During the two
two-week sessions there will be ample time to make art work in NAU's spacious ceramics lab.
Lodging and camping are both within a short distance of the ceramics studio. Dorm rooms
are easily obtained at around $16.00 per night. In years past there have been approximately
seven firings in each two week session. This year the Salt soda Glaze workshop will be taught
be Steven Schaeffer, Studio Coordinator at NAU and a fine artist. The Wood Fire workshop will
be taught be Ted Adler, Assistant Professor of Art at Wichita State University. The NAU
ceramics lab is well equiped with a fabulous array of exotic materials to experiement with.
The Salt/Soda workshop utilizes both updraft and cross draft gas kilns as well as a wood
soda kiln. The wood fire workshop utilizes an anagama, 2 train kilns and a wood soda kiln.
Both work shops are listed from (am - 5pm, Monday - Friday, during each session. However,
the studio is open well into the night and on week ends. If you are interested in taking part in
