injuries and kloppfenstein wheels

two questions...
1. I am recently recovering from a second herniated disk (L5) surgery in 4 years. I was wondering if other potters have this same problem with disks and what is anyone doing (besides exercise) to combat a recurrance. Raising tents, hauling pots and display furnishings...I yiyiyiyi!...what's a potter to do? As a handbuilder I don't bend over a wheel, so that helps.
2. Does anyone have a plan for a wooden Kloppfenstein wheel? I used one at Missouri University in the mid-70's and loooooved it!

I'm sorry, but I can't imagine why a potter with back problems
would want to use a Kloppfenstein wheel. I remember the
darn things being hard on my back when I was 25. If I had
back problems I would use a power wheel, elevated, to be
used while standing.
Good luck with your recovery, Susan.

Susan,
I am not sure about the wood versions but the company is alive an well
in Lexington, Ohio and producing great welded steel versions. They are
my favorite for a long triming session because of the adjustable arm
rest. Their website: www.klopfensteinart.com. I have two here at the
school and they work great.
