Deb -
One of my advanced students has a CI Artista, and I think it is a great
little wheel. I would never recommend it as the primary wheel for a serious
potter, but for a truely portable wheel, it is a little workhorse. Be sure
to get the optional legs.

Hi Deb,

Had the chance to work on the Artista and I
really liked it. Super for travel -
lightweight, strong and easy to throw on.
Get the foot pedal, which is an extra.

I concur, I like it, but I sprung for the optional foot pedal. MUCH easier to cart around then my Brent CXC .

I am a beginner potter, still at the hobby level. I purchased the Artista
because I could fit it into my budget and one of my instructors has one and
likes hers. I have been very happy with it thus far. If I ever move
beyond the hobby stage and need a more powerful wheel I could see keeping
the Artista for trimming work or travel.

I did not purchase the legs. I have mine sitting on a footlocker. I also
did not purchase the foot pedal. I may do so in the future as the budget
allows.

I posted one time before to this list to thank someone for inspiration in
helping me to dust off my wheel. Life had sucked me away for about a
year. I am happy to report that I have dusted her off and gotten her
muddy. Pottery is good, dirty fun!
