Hi all,

La Leche League of Missouri, USA (we provide mothers with breastfeeding
information and support) will be having a state conference the first weekend
of June in Columbia.

I am writing to see if there is any interest from folks to have some kind of
exhibition centering around the themes related to parenthood--- birth,
breastfeeding, loving guidance, etc. I already have three folks interested.
Thought I would check here, as I know there are some retired LLLLeaders and
La Leche League families hanging out here.

Warmly,

Lana Wilson, in a workshop, related that while nursing she decided to
make herself a nursing mother's medal. Why should everyone else get all
the recognition? When she was done, it was passed on to a nursing
friend.....

Well, there's not too much new under the sun ...
back in the bad old days of the cold war, the
Soviet Union used to give special medals
to women who had large families (they were
concerned with having sufficient population
growth to support their target economic
growth; sort of an exaggerated case of
correct order for horse and cart).

These were known as "Hero Mother of
the Soviet Union" medals, and came in
different colors and degree of quality of
production that related to the number of
children the recipient had. I've got a few
of them around in my collection of odds
and ends from the former Soviet Union.
