non-bait sushi blue plate special

Lee: Ryogi and the Kanayama gang all went to one of those conveyor belt
sushi joints. They had coloured plates on the wall which told you the price
of the item that was going past you. gold plate items were like halibut
stomach or some such yuck and it was like 1500 yen. I went for the Blue
Plate special which was raw fruit. It was the only raw, I could stomach. I
had 5 blue plates in front of me. At the time the Japanese equivalent of
mafia come in. they were young, well dressed and the kind not to bump into
on the way to the can. Big black Cadillac parked outside. Each guy had at
least 30-40 empty plates piled in front of them and many of them were gold.
The trend here in North America is Thai restaurants. Hell, thye're
everywhere. Me, I still like a grilled cheese sandwich and a chocolate
milkshake. Does anyone know where in America I can still get one? And I like
the silver container to refill my shake.
My dad used to take me to Tom's Lunch. God, that was when food was real.
Cheers,
Tony
Best meal I had in Japan was with Lee- wild boar and slaw

Southern Comfort restaurant in Austin, and there's
Threadgill's, also Austin. Both have "blue plate" specials, and they're
more on the order of meatloaf or chicken
than raw fish/Thai spices. And they'll have grilled cheese for certain
sure. So if you're going through
Austin, you could try. But it seems like a waste, if
you only get one meal in Austin, not to make it the
Salt Lick (barbecue, of course). Oklahoma City is
absolultely bound to have a place you can get grilled
cheese and a chocolate shake.

You can get a grilled cheese and shake at any Sonic drive-in. Don't =
know if they have them in Canada tho, so you'll prolly have to come down =
here.

Just about any corner diner will have them. Since you're going to be In
Oklahoma, if I recall correctly, you'll be fine. Someone mentioned Sonic
drive-ins, they're all over the place there, but don't limit yourself, try
their Cherry Limeade. It's incredible, just make sure you don't order the
diet version.

oh, and did I mention that they do really good tater tots???

O this is getting WAY OT, but I do love Sonic for fast food. They have =
tater tots instead of fries (for those of you outside the USA, that's =
potatoes that have been chopped up into small pieces then extruded or =
otherwise somehow formed into these little pieces the size of a =
marshmallow and deep fried. Also, they have the BEST footlong hotdogs =
and you are WAY SO right about the limeade. Diet is nasty, but the real =
thing is awesome.
