You might try a product called Trewax. You can find it at most hardware =
stores or wood working supply shops. It is a fine grade polishing wax =
for furniture finishing. Gives a nice shine with very little smell. =
Any smell which might be there dissipates within 24hrs. or so. Also, =
on some of my raku pieces I have used India ink on areas that didn't =
come out as black as I wanted from the reduction can. I noticed that =
the ink leaves a very nice waxy shine as it dries. The shine stays and =
does not smudge once the ink dries. I don't know what color you are =
looking for but nice inks are available in almost anything you can =
imagine. Hope this helps.
