I used to use my cordless (battery) drill with a Jiffy type
mixer. One day all my batteries were run down and not
wanting to wait for a re-charge I dug out my 30 year old
drill that you have to plug into the wall.

WHOA !!! What a difference !

The higher speed that the wall powered drill was able to
turn really churned up the glaze or slip. I especially
noticed that after stirring the slip was much smoother
than when I had used the battery drill. I guess the
increased speed resulted in more shear forces to break
up the lumps.
