I have to convert my trusty 50 year old, home built kick wheel to an =
electric one. And I am planning to use the motor method described years =
ago in a Sunset Handbook, as well as in a CM article about the Sycamore =
Pottery in PA. someplace.

However. The motor I salvaged definitely is too strong, =
fast,,,whatever,,,,

Could some kind person whose eyes are clear and whose knees still bend =
be a total sweetie pie and tell me what the specs are on the motor used =
either by Lockerbie or by Randall for their electrified kickwheels?

Many thanks....And whoever is feeling bad about a $50 part for a =
Brent....I know it hurts but so does paying $7 for a hamburger and soda =
at a fast food chain....

Lili-
I bought a Brent and a Randall wheel at the local community college when they
stopped thier arts program to cut costs. They should have fired some of the
high priced deadwood assistants to the assistants. The brent had a 1/3 hp
electric motor on a 300lb concrete flywheel. I sold it to pay for the Randall wheel
and a Bluebird 440 mill.

I was working on the Randall today, while waiting for the refridgerator
repairman, trying to adjust the return spring tension on the motor plate. It sticks
in the on position, keeping the motor running. My wheel sits under on a
concrete pad in an open sided galvanized roof shed- it gets wet during a driving
rain.

The motor is a Dayton model 5K401D - 1/2horsepower - 1725 rpm. Grainger
Company sells the Dayton line of products. I kick myself every time I think about
it for not buying a dozen of the Randalls for parts or to resell- they sold
for 25 dollars each! I just about am in need of a new rubber drive wheel, I
tried several times to contact the Randall kin in NY who supposedly sells parts to
no avail. I thought about taking a daytrip there the next time we go to
Onieda to visit my wife's family?

I Hope this Helps- Wish You Well
