Tom,

I'm pretty sure what is happening is that you get a message only when you
have posted to the list. Her email filter is interpreting your message on
the list as a message sent to her, and thus triggering the spam filter. If
you only read Clayart and don't post, then you would not have gotten any of
the messages. I've gotten one for every time I've posted recently.

I hate to be like this but...

I sorta do. If you are sending something to thousands of people,
and you haven't fully investigated it....well, you deserve what you
get. I have been getting that dumb message for over a month.

I defy anyone to tell me that they were unaware of it for a full
thirty days. Somebady wrote them about it. I just know it.

And if they were, just in that unlikely case, then they are to
blame for that too.

This is abuse of the privilege of using the internet.

And it may even be a damn sock puppet someone set up to
troll with and they just left it there with no person behind it.

There is no explanation other than the death of hte owner with
no instructions to family to close their email accounts that is
acceptable.

Well, oddly enough, I only received the one message earlier this
week. So has everyone but me been receiving these things for over a
month? Nothing's been mentioned on Clayart that I recall.

I wish I could show you the proof. But I empty my trash
folder (of over fifty or so bits a day) each day automaticly.

I post a lot. I only got them when I had recently posted.

I regretted saying that only if they had died and left the
account running with no one knowing about it. That circ
could actually occur and so I am sorry for saying that.

But otherwise, I stand by what I said.

I don't get any of these messages that everyone is referring to in such
annoyed tones. Why is that? Well, I'm not an actual "member" of clayart.
I go to the archives and read the postings there. It's quite easy to post
from the archives if I wish to reply to something. I don't have to delete
since there are no email messages to delete. I simply click on those
messages I wish to read...quite simple.
Not wishing to skew statistics by depressing the membership, but that is the
easiest and most hassle-free way to use clayart.

I haven't received even one.

Let's drop the subject.

It's not the end of the world.

Maybe you ought to check your filter settings as compared to the settings
of the "index" version of clayart?

I wasn't going to post on this...but after Belinda's post calling Julie...it
may be apropos. This could be a phishing email since it's not consistently
being applied, some are getting it, some not.
Maybe one of us who knows about how to read the addresses could inform us.
It would be easy for a program to pick a website off the internet, turn it
into an apparent address, get you to click on the "approval address" which
has nothing to do with anyone real or their computer, just to get your
computers address which is then a known, live address.
all the weird eBay and papal messages of late are similar scams...just don't
answer them. Please, if you haven't, spend a few minutes educating yourself
on phishing. It's as important to your security as your antivirus, firewall
and antispyware (you are using all three of these aren't you?).
Here's a test you can take to test yourself...it's fun and informative.

I've gotten it every time I've posted recently. You're right to be
suspicious, but (as a computer professional) this looks genuine to me.
The website it takes you to is really the spamarrest website, and it
doesn't ask you for any personal information, and the information that
it contains about my posting e-mail seems genuine and derived from my
e-mail, not the clayart archives. Nevertheless, just on general
principal, I haven't responded. Spamarrest, while being a genuine
service, has been rightly criticized for marketing (read, spamming)
their service to the e-mail addresses of people who responded to their
spam-stopping challenges.

I think probably it's just a case of poor jharrisglassart thinking she
stopped using spamarrest but either through her innocent error or
spamarrest's negligent error they still think she is using their service.

I could be mistaken, but I think the typical eBay and Paypal phishing
scams are much more nefarious than e-mail address harvesting. They
(meaning third parties masquerading as eBay and Paypal, /not/ eBay and
Paypal themselves) typically are trying to collect personal information
for purposes such as credit-card fraud and identity theft. Beware!

I marked all the emails as frauds without even reading them.
I got 70% correct.
