jharrisglassart's damn spamarrest program

updated fri 13 jan 06

I'm getting tired of this. Whoever jharrisglassart is - email address =
jharrisglassart11@spamarrest.com, please make adjustments to your damn =
spamarrest program so that it does not send me one of these damm =
verification messages for every single message I post to Clayart. You =
are guilty of spreading spam to thousands of people just for the sake of =
a poorly designed spam arresting program that benefits only you. Please =
stop it now!

I agree that this is the rudest form of attempting to control spam.
What aggravates me even more than getting one as a result of a
Clayart post is when someone writes to me personally asking for help
on glazes. I put a bit of effort into a response and then get one of
this type of "spam control" messages back. I refuse to respond to
them. And, yes, it has happened several times in the last 2 or 3
months. If anyone on the list thinks I have been unresponsive it may
be because you are using this type of spam control or, as Vince says,
spam generation.

Regards,

John

I took his address and made a specific filter for him
to go directly to trash.

Appropriately,

I recieved a very nice email about a month ago. Very
polite and well spoken. When I tried to respond, I got
a hoop to jump through involving me opening an attachment
and sending it back to make me worthy of being in her
automated address book.

I did not respond for two reasons.

If someone invites you to respond for whatever reason,
it is up to them to open the door for you.

And secondly, most significantly for clayart as the first is
really an ettiquette issue, I will not open attachments from
anyone that I do not know well. It is how you get viruses
and other bugs, spyware, and new to be formed clap through
the ether.

Be wary!

I, too, have become highly irritated by the jharris spamarrest spamfest.
I looked up her website, found a regular email address for her there, and
sent her a request to cease and desist. No reply yet. I can only hope my
email is actually received and read, and doesn't go into the bit bucket.

I get that when my daughter sends something from her office, I think whoever it is can change it under "Tools, Options," but that's in Outlook Express. I changed my email address for Clayart to Yahoo because I was getting too much crap and still am on the old email address. What I found is that Yahoo every now and then puts some mail in "Bulk" and asks me to delete. I open it because Clayart is all I get from that address and it's never anything bad or crazy, just the usual Clayart stuff.

I hate repraisal, punishment, control of others, especially pettyness and all that but......if the spamarrest thing doesn't stop, is it possible- as in should we all -to bombard her site through massive emails from clayarters? Just one day? According to my son it will block the flow of her normal email, as we ( a TON of US citizens) did once to the White House. There's still a war there :-(, but at least we knew that plan worked :-)

Marianne --

A. It won't work. (Explanation -- no matter what your son thinks, if you
don't log through her spamfilter, which everyone is complaining about,
her spamfilter will totally block you attempt to bring her e-mail down,
as all of your messages will be filtered as SPAM.)

B. It would be foolish if it would work. (If her e-mail goes down, it just
does many times over to her what she did, unintentionally, and rather
mildly, to all of us. Two wrongs don't make a right, eh?)

C. The best way to get back to business on ClayArt is to drop this
DEAD and get back to business. (No explanation needed.)
