Norm, Somewhere in a dead and dusty archive there is a requisition or an
order packing sheet. short of that but certainly quick and effective for the
usual potters purpose for bricks is to accurately measure the dimensions of
a brick and do an absorbsion weight test. then fire to two cones higher than
you plan to use it and remeasure your calculations. do you notice visual
changes to the brick character?
So then: fire two bricks on a false shelf (clay pad) to protect your kiln
shelf, one brick on its edge and one brick elevated on short posts at each
end to test for slumping deformation.
This is important as you will get information on how these brick's
collective weight may effect your stacked construction when in use. When
considering insulating refractory materials it is important to note that R
values and K rateings are not the same.

Love to get my hands on some of those boxes, Bricks, any bricks, even bricks
to pave the kiln yard are......

Best wishes,

David
