help once again, controller problem

A few days ago I posted a message about my kiln having apparently
stopped during a bisque and I didn't know what temperature the pots
at reached. On the advice of many (and thanks to you all) I decided
to re-bisque yesterday. However, there's something seriously wrong
with my controller. I turned the kiln off according to the cones and
the colour so the bisque was okay but the readout at that point was
555F! And this after 6 hours instead of the usual 11.

The controller is a stand-alone Bartlett purchased a year and a half
ago and used only 15 times. I checked that the wires going to the
probe are connected securely but beyond that I don't know where to
look. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mary, from what I understand, your controller is off by several hundred
degrees. That is rare. I would replace the thermocouple. If the controller
is still way off, I would return it for repair.

Is the thermocouple (probe) new also, or did you use an old one?

Could be you need to install a new one.
