Ive been using Redart and ash as my glaze for a long time now. But i try
test most every firing.. Just for fun. I did some test using Barnard last firing
and had some cool results. Is Barnard still available?
Is Alberta slip still available?
Have many of you used Arroyo slip?
In my new tests i like to mess with Angel Eyes ,, One test i used more
Rutile, love that one and also a test using yellow iron instead of red iron,, That
also worked , but i have lots of red iron that i found, need to use it up.
Also my kiln opening and sale was lots of fun , we moved lots of pots out
the doors to go to good homes. Went thru 5 gallons of hot Cider and lots of
cookies. We also had my Bean soup on the stove for the 5 other potters and some
of my cactus friends that found out it was on the stove. The recipe is on my
website,, please try it.. The Recipe came from Craig Allen of Fairchild
Gardens , he was in charge of the rare plants ..

Gave out lots of my : support your local potter , bumper stickers.. hope to
see them all over Chattanooga, they also say ,www.lookoutmountainpottery.com

Hey Mark,

Barnard, or what they mix up at Plainsman Clay to replicate is, as well as
Alberta slip.
Barnard and 3124 frit is my basic glaze for my carved pots.
I have been doing similar testing as you, though trying to keep
my glazes fewer and simpler.
I have never heard of Arroyo slip.
How much ash do you use with the slip, if you don`t mind telling.
Good luck with your show.
