Hi all
This discussion on Voulkos(the artist)has been
interesting.
Was fortunate to have attended the last work shop he
and Paul Soldner gave.Don Reitz was also there that
week.To be in the middle of all the that clay royalty
was at the time taken for granted however seems like
the experiences and the things learned have affected
my thinking many times.
Peter always had enterouge of people along for the
ride friends and family. He took the afternoons.and
between the anticancer medications and the toddies his
friends gave him along with age he would sometimes get
pretty wobbly by late in the day.
Our conversation went like this
P Where you from?
me Utah
P You mormon?
me yah
PHow many wives you got? Then he introduced his wife
next to him.
we talked for a while What a character
One of the strongest personalities have ever met in
my life.

Some women were laughing at some of his unsteadiness
in the afternoon. my comment was Why did you take this
class go up there meet him. He had earned the right to
be who he was
When he signed a piece of clay the clay became
valuable.
The day Pete died got in a minor wreck No injuries
and the 3 other vehicles were totaled a bunch of young
kids driving all of them. Was during the 2002
olympics.Peter was Greek mmmmm amazing.
That car blew up the day Ken Fergeson died that's
another subject.
After the workshop a bunch of us were talking we felt
we had met a real artist. Some thing many of us had
never experienced
